The Solaris MC clustering operating system

Abstract:
The Solaris MC operating system is a research distributed operating system providing a single system image for clusters of computers. This talk discusses the design and implementation of Solaris MC: its object-oriented framework, distributed caching file system, global process management, and new cluster networking techniques. Solaris MC also illustrates how a new operating system can be rapidly prototyped using a commercial operating system as a base.
