I would just make sure to avoid specific algorithms/formats, etc.. in the patent, since they are usually the more defendable (if the filers did their job right). Note that just talking about iSCSI in general will not constitute prior art for some of these more specific claims - but then again they usually prove easy to work around if you are aware of them ahead of time.
