Dave, I would *LOVE* to have a TCP option to indicate message boundaries. However, an implementation cannot rely on the new Option being implemented. Besides, the IETF is opposed to any changes to TCP since they've invented the as yet unproven SCTP. The marker scheme is the quickest and cleanest way to achieve the framing requirements iSCSI needs. -Matt
