My reasoning is based on the ability of iFCP to support traffic management for individual storage entities. According to the iFCP specification, individual iFCP entities behind a gateway have separate addresses and registrations in the iSNS. This allows MPLS and other traffic management standards to be specified and used for individual sessions between initiators and targets. This provides the ability to control individual session storage traffic, ensuring storage data can receive priority service. Additionally, each connection between an initiator and target has a separate connection built. If problems occur, the connection can be torn down without impact to other storage entities.
