[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] RE: SNIA-IPSFORUM: IP Storage Forum Plugfest, Call for Participat ionThis idea has been discussed a number of times for a number of different technologies. There are some issues (both operational and security) that need to be worked out but I believe it can be made to work. I propose that we have a round table on this one at the plugfest. >-----Original Message----- >From: Dennis Young [mailto:dyoung@rhapsodynetworks.com] >Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2001 3:06 PM >To: 'Barry Reinhold'; Zamer, Ahmad; 'Brian Pawlowski' >Cc: Black_David@emc.com; ips@ece.cmu.edu >Subject: RE: SNIA-IPSFORUM: IP Storage Forum Plugfest, Call for >Participat ion > > >Is there any thought about making a longer term interoperability >test setup >on the Internet (make it private using VPN if security is a concern). >Companies that build iSCSI switches can connect their gears to >this network >from their own facilities, same for storage device and HBA vendors. >The current IOL or other organizations can manage the network and >operation >policy such as scheduling, addition and removal of equipments, etc. >This is not my idea, just something I overheard in a storage conference. >-dennis > >>-----Original Message----- >>From: Barry Reinhold [mailto:bbrtrebia@mediaone.net] >>Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2001 9:55 AM >>To: Zamer, Ahmad; 'Brian Pawlowski' >>Cc: Black_David@emc.com; ips@ece.cmu.edu >>Subject: RE: SNIA-IPSFORUM: IP Storage Forum Plugfest, Call for >>Participat ion >> >> >>Having spent 10 years architecting and running the IOL I would >>like to note >>one thing.
