I don't know whether this is a good idea or not - Rob, This is'nt my suggestion now. This was the consensus of the IPS WG having debated this same issue about 6 months ago and come to the conclusion that the mode page mechanisms had too many issues with it for it to be used by iscsi. My position on this is that either CRN support be removed from iscsi (following the position taken by SPI-x, SRP, etc) or if CRN is to be retained, all descriptions of CRN belong to the SCSI ULP documents. We should'nt be creating iscsi specific mode pages for CRN. (Note that with the CmdSN ordering being mandatory, CRN adds no value if it is assumed to be transport specific.) - Santosh > but I hope that devices that are trying to bridge transports (a tough enough > thing to begin with) aren't also going to be saddled with trying to right a > whole lot of wrongs that occurred in the upper layers as well. > > > > > paul > > > > > > Regards, > Rob -- ################################## Santosh Rao Software Design Engineer, HP-UX iSCSI Driver Team, Hewlett Packard, Cupertino. email : santoshr@cup.hp.com Phone : 408-447-3751 ##################################
