[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] iSCSI boot draft - informal WG Last CallWhile not strictly required, let's do an IPS Working Group Last Call on the iSCSI Boot Draft: Title : Bootstrapping Clients using the iSCSI Protocol Author(s) : P. Sarkar, D. Missimer, C. Sapuntzakis Filename : draft-ietf-ips-iscsi-boot-10.txt This WG Last Call will close on Wednesday, July 16th. Editorial comments can be sent directly to the primary author, Prasenjit Sarkar <psarkar@almaden.ibm.com> ; technical comments should be posted to this list. Please focus on the new security text, but if anything else is found, it's better to catch it here than in a second IETF Last Call. It's already been pointed out that the text on how dual stack (IPv4/IPv6) systems acquire their IP addresses is overspecified, and should be removed in favor of other specifications that address that area directly. That would involve removal of the following paragraph in Section 5: An iSCSI boot client which does not know its IP address at power-on may acquire its IP address via DHCP. An iSCSI boot client which is capable of using both DHCPv6 and DHCPv4 should first attempt to use DHCPv6 to obtain its IP address, falling back on DHCPv4 in the event of failure.
