[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] iSCSI: TSID -> TSIH -> TISH -> ... ?Hello all, I don't see the point in renaming TSID to TSIH. We might as well call it TISH (Target Identifying Session Handle) so we can pronounce it better. A handle usually denotes a memory pointer (in Microsoft world) and sometimes a table pointer. Since it is a 16 bit quantity it can never be a memory pointer, thus MS ppl will never call it a ``handle'' and so you're off the hook. :-)) The Change Log denotes: - Changed TSID to TSIH to better denote its meaning BUT the meaning of TSID/TSIH is left up to the Target! I.e. it has NO meaning as far as iSCSI is concerned. And this is what IDs do -- they have no meaning, but to uniquely identify an object (purpose). As far as anyone else is concerened its a 16 bit quantity with 0 being a reserved value. Lets keep the consistensy of SSID, ISID and ... TSID (not to mention CID). Comments? P.S. Why wasn't this change announced on IPS? Thanks, -- Luben
