[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] RE: iSCSI: TSID -> TSIH -> TISH -> ... ?> I don't see the point in renaming TSID to TSIH. An IPS email with "TSID" in the title sparked the debate as to whether or not TSID played a useful role in the protocol. As part of that discussion, text was changed to clarifying the concept of SSID, since it was causing some confusion. TSID was changed to TSIH to try to avoid the assumption that the TSID has a role (in combition with initiator and target names) in uniquely identifying the session. It's not a substantive change. The fully qualified unique session identifier is <Initiator name+ISID> + <target name+TPGT> ---note that TSID (or TSH) is not in that combination. The fact that it was named similarly to the ISID and SSID caused most to expect that it must be part of that equation. So to effect minimal changes and try to avoid that confusion, the name was changed. TSIH is/was just there for a target's convenience in internally pointing to session resources, hence "target session identifying handle". Marj
