Cloud environments, including Oracle’s Autonomous Database Cloud Services and Exadata Cloud at Customer, require memory management for large numbers of databases. These database clouds may serve highly-critical OLTP applications, resource-intensive data warehouses, and lower-priority development and test systems. Each workload has its own memory requirements, including data block caches, index caches, columnar caches, sort areas, work areas, etc. Oracle’s Memory Management ensures that the database’s physical memory can be shared between the many databases and disparate workloads.
We are hiring developers that can convert ideas to solutions and enable successful cloud environments with easy and flexible Memory Management. Future projects include working with each database team developing memory-intensive features to ensure effective and policy-driven memory usage. Besides software development, responsibilities include benchmarking workload scenarios, publishing best practice papers for customer use, and interacting with hardware and software vendors to address platform or vendor-specific challenges and roadmaps. We seek strong analytical and problem-solving skills, operating system and storage system fundamentals, performance evaluation and tuning skills, and fluency in C or C++.

What You’ll Do:
The Database Engineering Team is responsible for full stack development of a family of databases including Oracle NoSQL Database, Oracle Times-Ten In-Memory Database, and the industry-leading Oracle Database itself. This is a systems-focused group that works on areas such as distributed databases, substantial scalability, high availability, security, analytics, data warehousing, automatic parallelization, networking, replication, distributed caching, transaction engines, data engines, SQL execution, query optimization, and language design. The team develops in-database machine-learning and AI algorithms both to help our customers improve their business and to make our own products autonomous. In addition, this group is also responsible for working on Oracle Engineered Systems which provide utmost performance and availability using technologies such as Persistent Memory and RDMA.
