JOB SUMMARY

Our team develops and operates a production observability platform, applications, and ML/AI-based tools for internal use at Salesforce. These tools help teams develop, optimize, and operate database-related systems. We build a range of tools, from dashboards to complex applications that detect, predict, and perform root cause analysis to generate self-healing recommendations. We use a mix of standard and innovative techniques to build and operate our system at scale, with high availability and low latency. Example projects: defining metrics, benchmarking, and experimenting with different ML models using tools such as Jupyter Notebook, SQL, Python, Spark, Airflow and others in a public cloud environment. Building dashboards. Developing applications that will analyze data to extract insights and generate recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and expand core database system functionality.
• Innovate to improve performance and scalability.
• Implement comprehensive functional and system-test for your area of responsibility and for overall database quality.
• Debug, conduct root cause analysis, diagnose defects.
• Actively participate in release and deployment process
  

Required Qualifications

• Required Qualifications: Enrolled and working towards obtaining a BS in Computer Science or related field. Please note that in order to be eligible for an internship, we require that you be returning to school the following quarter/semester to work towards completing your degree
• Must be attending a College or University in North America
• Team player with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with others
• Understanding of object-oriented programming/design, algorithms, and data structures and how to efficiently implement them into a solution
• Strong understanding of CS fundamentals and how to apply them to code
• Python, basic understanding of data science
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework in SQL and relational database concepts
• Strong competency in java, javascript and associated frameworks
• Working knowledge of HTML and web technologies
• General knowledge of front end and back end languages
• Strong communicator, able to convey complex ideas through writing, using diagrams and verbally
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to putting quality first and delivering quality solutions
• Be a self-starter and possess a strong sense of self-motivation
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies

Desired Skills

• Experience with database catalog, upgrade, query execution.
• PostgreSQL software development experience and community involvement as a contributor would be a huge plus.
• Experience building a high-performance large-scale database platform.
