The mission of the Moore Foundation includes advancing scientific research and conservation of the environment. The Foundation sponsors a range of research projects in a variety of areas. It has generously provided support for our work on applications of computer science to analysis of large-scale scientific data.
We have received support from the National Science Foundation for
building a compute cluster and developing initial prototype of
distributed eScience applications. We are now using this cluster for
building new computational tools for astronomy and cosmology.
We are collaborating with researchers at the eScience Institute of the University
of Washington, who are developing and applying advanced
computational methods to a variety of eScience problems, including
astronomy and cosmology.
