The Cloud Systems Reliability Group in Microsoft Research is seeking motivated Research Interns to work on cutting-edge research at the intersection of distributed systems, software engineering and data analytics. The group's research aims at improving all aspects of reliability and availability of today's hyperscale cloud systems. This ranges from designing novel and efficient systems reliability mechanisms, to developing scalable techniques for debugging and testing systems, to implementing effective tools for runtime monitoring and troubleshooting. During this Research Internship, you will have the opportunities to work with top researchers and engineers at Microsoft Research as well as various product teams in Microsoft Azure and Office365, and to develop innovative solutions to challenging research problems in the above technical areas. You will also have the unique opportunity to evaluate your techniques on thousands of software projects in Microsoft and publish your work in top systems conferences.
Research Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world’s best researchers, Research Interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Research Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, Research Interns are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other Research Interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer.
